The stage concept of "Polylogue" came to life based on the novel Melancholy by a Norwegian author Jon Fosse. The novel's title follows the name for the term that was used to designate the psychiatric diagnosis of a Norwegian painter Lars Hertervig (1830-1902), real-life character of the 19th-century art.
Fosse´s account of the artist's shattered ideas, both prior to and after his mental crisis was inspiration to create reconstruction of key moments, that brought him to his mental crisis.
"Polylogue" incorporates a cyclic repetition and modification of phrases, ideas, scenes, dialogues and situations taking place within a single afternoon in the autumn of 1853, during the Hertervig's studies at the Academy of Arts in Germany.
